Schloss Rosenegg boasts a wonderful pool and spa area, along with some pretty gardens where you can sit and enjoy the atmosphere and, hopefully, the weather. Just a few minutes from the towns of St. Johann, Oberndorf and Kitzbuhel; there are no shortage of places to visit. Our holiday includes two full day excursions, featuring visits to castles and palaces, tours of the beautiful mountains and a day in wonderful Salzburg, home of Mozart. See below for details of the excursions. The holiday is based on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis and will be escorted throughout.

Excursions

Salzburg and surrounding region

No visit to Austria is complete without a visit to the "Sound of Music City" Salzburg. On arrival at the Birthplace of Mozart take a short walk into the centre of the town where you can enjoy a stroll through the old town with its impress fortress and cathedral. Visit the house where Mozart was born in the quaint "Getreidegasse" or why not take a break amongst the flowers in the Mirabell gardens.

Hohensalzburg Fortress

What would Mozart's City be without the most prominent feature in its silhouette? Reigning majestically over the city rooftops, Hohensalzburg Fortress dominates the cityscape. The 900-year-old Hohensalzburg Fortress, the city's chief landmark, is the biggest and most fully-preserved fortification in Europe. Built by Archbishop Gebhard during the investiture controversy in 1077, it served to protect the clergy and the population.
Over the rooftops of Mozart's city
Hohensalzburg Fortress offers visitors a stunning view of the city of Salzburg and its environs. The Fortress is accessed from Kapitelplatz through the Festungsgasse; visitors can choose between the funicular, departing every 10 minutes, or taking a 30-minute walk to the top.

Möchsberg panorama lift

The best way to get the "Big Picture" of Salzburg is to take a trip up the Mönchsberg for a fascinating panorama view over the roofs of this spectacular city. Why not make the trip even special with a class of sparkling wine at the top? € 2,90 just lift € 4,90 per person including wine.

Fairytale castles and lakes

Neuschwanstein / Hohenschwangau CastlesBuilt by King Ludwig II from 1868, Neuschwanstein is the most impressive of his castles. Hohenschwangau is where he was born and is located quite close by.Seven weeks after the death of King Ludwig Neuschwanstein was opened to the public. The shy King had built the castle in order to withdraw from public life, now vast numbers of people come to view his private refuge. Neuschwanstein is one of the most popular castles in Europe. Entrance to the castles is not included in the tour. The price is approximately €11 per person. A shuttle bus takes you up to Neuschwanstein where a guided tour takes you round the fascinating rooms of the castle. The throne room is one of magnificent Byzantine style and will only be out done by the bedroom in it’s extravagance. Hohenschwangau, Also extravagant but in a more homely style this is a very colourful palace to visit. To walk up to the castle you need approx. 40 mins. The castle our is approx. 30 mins long. Should you decide not to actually visit the castles, then you can spend some time in the town of Fussen.

Königsee

The Königsee is a lake located in the extreme southeast of the German State of Bavaria, close to the Austrian border. Lying near the Bavarian town of Berchtesgaden south of Salzburg this is probably one f the most picturesque parts of the area. Enjoy a coffee and cake at one of the lake side restaurants while admiring the view. The lake is noted for its clear water and is advertised as the cleanest lake in Germany. For this reason, only electric driven boats, rowboats and pedal boats are permitted on the lake.

028 9022 2240 ALDOR HOLIDAYS

It only seems like a blink ago that it was Christmas and now it is almost St. Patricks Day. The cold of the winter is hopefully past and we can look forward to the summer of 2010. And what a summer that proves to be at Aldor Holidays! We have repeated some of the "tried and tested"  destinations, such as Tenerife & israel. We have increased our tours to Germany and Austria and we are featuring a number of cruises.

As each year passes, the cruise lines publish their programme earlier and earlier. This means that the real bargains to be booked now are for 2011. Most of our 2010 cruises are either fully booked or they have risen so much in price, they no longer represent the value that Aldor is noted for.

Destinations, such as Germany and Austria, are proving to be very popular. People have realised that their money goes much further there than on the Costas or in Tenerife. Excursions, restaurants, accommodation.....they are all considerably cheaper than the more popular hotspots. Visitors are made to feel extremely welcome, especially when you tell the locals you are from ireland, north or south!

We are about to launch our early 2011 programme in the next feew weeks. Yes 2011. It's difficult to believe but we have to think that far ahead to get the bargains. Have a look on the website for our Norwegian Cruise, 23rd July 2011, with prices from only £895.

If you feel there is a holiday destination we should look at, somewhere you would like to visit, please tell us. Send us an email at alan@orrstravel.co.uk  or joyce@orrstravel.co.uk or suzanne@orrstravel.co.uk or call us on 028 9022 2240. We are here to serve you.
